Snow and Ugly Wallpaper Border

When it snows, it snows. Fort Smith got like 7 inches, but that's alright. I got to leave early from work on Friday and I got a snow day at my part time gig on Saturday. The Hubs and I got to sleep in Saturday and Sunday. It was nice for a change.
My 2 Corgi's enjoyed the snow. The Dachshund, not so much. Fred HATES to be cold, so it really wasn't his thing.

I did get a chance to try and take down the horrible wallpaper border in our dining room.

It turned out harder than I thought. Usually, I just whip out my ol' trusty wallpaper steamer remover thing

and wham-o, it comes down fairly easy. Not this wallpaper. I think it has been on since the dawn of time or something! I'm going to try again this weekend, since I didn't get very fair on my previous attempt.

The Cove

My Husband has been bugging me to watch this documentary called The Cove. I refused to watch it for so long because I knew it would make me sad and then I would cry, blah blah blah. I finally broke down and watched it last night. I'm so glad I did, it's an amazing documentary. I posted the trailer below. Check it out and if it's something you would be interested in learning more about, go and rent it! They even have it at the $1.00 Redbox thingy. Animal Rights is something I have always been very passionate about, but this is just insane what goes on in Japan.

Synopsis - www.covemovie.com

The Cove begins in Taiji, Japan, where former dolphin trainer Ric O’Barry has come to set things right after a long search for redemption. In the 1960s, it was O’Barry who captured and trained the 5 dolphins who played the title character in the international television sensation “Flipper.”

But his close relationship with those dolphins – the very dolphins who sparked a global fascination with trained sea mammals that continues to this day -- led O’Barry to a radical change of heart. One fateful day, a heartbroken Barry came to realize that these deeply sensitive, highly intelligent and self-aware creatures so beautifully adapted to life in the open ocean must never be subjected to human captivity again. This mission has brought him to Taiji, a town that appears to be devoted to the wonders and mysteries of the sleek, playful dolphins and whales that swim off their coast.

But in a remote, glistening cove, surrounded by barbed wire and “Keep Out” signs, lies a dark reality. It is here, under cover of night, that the fishermen of Taiji, driven by a multi-billion dollar dolphin entertainment industry and an underhanded market for mercury-tainted dolphin meat, engage in an unseen hunt. The nature of what they do is so chilling -- and the consequences are so dangerous to human health -- they will go to great lengths to halt anyone from seeing it.

Undeterred, O’Barry joins forces with filmmaker Louis Psihoyos and the Oceanic Preservation Society to get to the truth of what’s really going on in the cove and why it matters to everyone in the world. With the local Chief of Police hot on their trail and strong-arm fishermen keeping tabs on them, they will recruit an “Ocean's Eleven”-style team of underwater sound and camera experts, special effects artists, marine explorers, adrenaline junkies and world-class free divers who will carry out an undercover operation to photograph the off-limits cove, while playing a cloak-and-dagger game with those who would have them jailed. The result is a provocative mix of investigative journalism, eco-adventure and arresting imagery that adds up to an urgent plea for hope.

Ice Ice Baby

According to the local news we have an 80% chance of ice tomorrow and 70% chance of ice on Friday. I think we are getting some ice! My plan is to get a blanket, some yummy Hot Coco and some good movies and curl up on the couch with my Hubs. What are your plans? Personally, I'm not a big fan of snow or ice, but what can you do. I'm secretly dreaming of spring time when I can get out and go to garage sales and antique stores and be blissfully happy... well happy until it gets scorching HOT outside where it forces me to stay inside with the A/C! Get out those Snuggies and Stay Warm Everybody!

Going Green...

So, I was out sick yesterday and I didn't have the energy to post anything. We got our new furniture Saturday morning and let me tell ya, it looks so much better! It makes the room feel cozier too. This is what our living room looked like Friday night without any furniture.

I didn't get all of the large window with the crappy outdated blinds in the picture. I'm on the lookout for some curtains that will match the new set up. I think curtains really pull a room together, don't you?

Here is a picture of our fireplace and mantel. I love the fireplace! I'm always changing it up... I'm never satisfied.

So, we went with the green couch and loveseat. Once we got it in the living room, it doesn't look as green as it did at the store. It actually looks really good and matches the wall color. I'm thinking of just keeping the wall color as is until further notice...

This is a crappy picture I took yesterday when I was deathly ill... but you get the idea. Now all that is left is to get curtains, area rug and maybe a coffee table. I can't wait until it's garage sale weather again! I need a lot of stuff! Oh yeah, I'm also on the lookout for a hall tree aka hat rack. If you see one around and it's fairly cheap, let me know!

Saturday Gig

I took some pictures from my Saturday gig at Designer Again on Saturday. I thought I would share some of the cool stuff she has in her shop.

I LOOOOVE this couch... and rumor has it that it is a Drexel. Unfortunately, I don't have the $300 to buy it or even the room in my house for it! It's pretty long. I didn't even get all of the couch in the picture.

Of course there are TONS more things that I didn't get a chance to take pictures of! It's super busy there on Saturday's, so I had to try to get some pictures when I first got there. I'll keep my eyes open for cool stuff I can take pictures of and then I'll post them on here for your viewing pleasure!

New Couch

I think we are going to get a new couch and love seat or couch and chair... not sure yet on the combo. For those of you that know me you are probably thinking "Didn't you just get a new couch and chair" and yes, you are right. Right before we put our house on the market, we bought a new couch and chair from Ashley Furniture and we haven't been happy with either. We have already had someone come out and work on both of them and they still are broken. The couch is kind of sinking in the middle and making a squeaky/popping noise and the chair is messed up too. Not to mention they really don't fit with the living room layout at the new house. Anyway, we started looking tonight and we found a few that we are interested in. Check em' out!

This one is my favorite! Of course, Brent hates it... but who cares what he thinks?! I love the neutral colors, but it also has kind of a "retro" look to it.

I thought this one was kind of neat. I have never had a sectional before, but I'm not sure if I would like it in the long run...

I love the color of this one and it's the perfect size! Cute pillows too...

This one of course is Brent's favorite. Personally, I hate leather and it's not really my style. I have a feeling we are going to be fighting over this for awhile! Except that I really wanted to get one this weekend! So, we'll see. Which one do you like the best?
